What happens if my child is unwell?

At Woodlands Nursery we understand that for working parents it is hard to leave work. Therefore when your child becomes unwell, we try our best to make them feel comfortable. We may ring you for permission to administer Calpol. If symptoms persist and no improvement is shown we ask for your child to be collected and taken home.

It's unavoidable that small children catch all kinds of minor infections, however for a speedy recovery and to minimise cross infection to the other children, children who are unwell must stay at home. The nursery will advise you on how long to keep your child off for.

Nappies/Toilet Training

If required please provide your child with nappies and baby wipes. When the time comes for toilet training, we will work together to achieve this.

What do I need to bring to nursery?

What to bring to nursery:

-A bag/backpack with a change of clothes

-A packet of Nappies

-A Comforter if they have one.

- A named water bottle (This is taken home and brought into nursery each session)

-A Pair of Welly Boots that can be left at nursery.

Clothing

Each child requires a pair of named wellington boots in the winter months and a sun hat in the summer. Our staff apply a high factor suncream before going outside in the summer months, we ask for a contribution per child each year depending on your child's sessions.

At Woodlands Nursery we have lot of fun and messy experiences for the children- please dress them appropriately and comfortably.

Collection of Children

We will only permit children to be collected by a person aged 16 years or over, who is known to us and have authority. If we have not met a person collecting your child a password will be required. This is for the safety of your child.

There is a 'late collection' fee of £1 a minute. This will be added to your invoice.

What are the children's sleeping arrangements?

Children sleep in the main hall, this is sectioned of by dividers. Children have indivdual bed bags with their own blanket and sheet (which is provided by the nursery) These are cleaned reguarly. When the children are going to sleep the other children are either outside or using our story room, lights are turnt off and it is quiet.

How do I settle in my child to nursery?

Your child is assigned a Key Person. This member of staff role is to make sure your child is settled into nursery. Settling lasts one week and we can extend this if needed.

Example-

Monday 11th January-9:15am- Meet your child's Keyperson in the garden and leave your child for 30mins
Tuesday 12th January- 10am-11am (1hour)
Wednesday 13th January- 9am-10:30am (1.5hour)
Thursday 14th January- 9am-11am (2hours)
Friday 15th January- 10:15-12:15 (2 hours and stay for lunch)

(These sessions can change according to how your child is. Your child's keyperson may make the sessions short. This is the discretion of your child's Key Person.)
